Irish Prints - The Waterways of Ireland

The island nation of Ireland boasts an array of beautiful waterways. From the rivers that run through the cities of Dublin, Cork, and Galway, to the stunning Dingle marina, the Lakes of Killarney, and the world famous Shannon river, Ireland's waterways are wonders themselves. Driving through the emerald isle, you are never far from the ocean, a lake, a river, a mountain stream, or waterfall. There is even a fjord in Killary. Not only do they provide food, transport, and protection, but sitting along their banks you are treated to a peaceful respite on a busy day with breathtaking views and the natural beauty of the surrounding countryside or bustling city.

Ha'penny Bridge, Liffey River

The River Liffey meanders through Dublin via its source at Sally Gap in the Wicklow mountains. It provides most of Dublin's water and is spanned by several bridges like the Ha'penny Bridge pictured here.

Dingle Bay

Dingle town is an Gaeltacht, an area where both Irish and English are widely spoken. The town attracts thousands of tourists annually, especially those hoping to take a swim with Fungi, the resident dolphin, out in the marina. On this day, the sun shone so brightly that the waters of Dingle Harbor kept getting a deeper and deeper shade of blue and the fields beyond a richer green than we'd seen them just a half hour earlier!
