Irish Prints - Animals of Ireland

The animals of Ireland are not to be overshadowed by the scenic beauty of Erin. The beautiful horses, red tailed deer, Irish wolfhounds and sheep of every county continue to be a source of pride for Ireland. Pictured here, the Irish wolfhound is an ancient breed with angelic faces and loud deep voices. Driving through the Irish Countryside, you cannot help but be awed by the multitudes of sheep dotting the landscape. The highly sought after wool is used to create warm Irish sweaters and apparel.

Irish Wolfhound

This hound and his brother live at the Kerry Bog Village. Both were on the fence until the camera came out. Then the other became shy and couldn't be coaxed back until we put the camera away!

Kerry Sheep

Sheep dot the many fields in rural Ireland all year round. These were along the road to Dingle one afternoon in December. They seemed unfazed by the cold windy day!

Minard Horses

We surprised this mare and colt just beyond St. John's Holy Well as we walked closer towards the ruins of Minard castle. Thankfully, she stopped her charge and continued to graze sweetly.

After carting passengers all day through the Gap of Dunloe, these horses get a much deserved rest while travelers have a meal and a pint inside the cottage.

Kerry Horse

Driving along Kerry roads with a local driver, he suddenly slowed and said, 'Look, the horse'. Turning, this guy was right in front of me! I hurried to roll down the window but he started to walk away. Disappointed, I said, 'Oh, I wanted to take a picture!'. He looked up, walked over, and posed just as you see him here!
